Nepal should carefully manage the expanding role of Chinese NGOs and their increasing engagements across Nepal’s civic space. While their contribution to Nepal’s development landscape is valuable, there is a need for stronger regulatory frameworks to ensure transparency, prevent undue political influence, and safeguard Nepal’s sovereignty. A balanced, cautious approach can help Nepal optimize the developmental benefits from Chinese NGO engagements while mitigating potential risks to its political and governance systems.
