Each volume has been reprinted from scans of the original publication and is included under a particular theme. The goal of this Collection, and reprinting books about China and the Orient from earlier eras in general, is to reignite interest and explore how these books relate to the region today. This set focuses on the theme "The Silk Road" and features five books about the authors' travels in China and beyond, along ancient trade routes.
