The present work delves back into the history of erstwhile tribal areas (FATA) of Pakistan to find its origin, synthetic evolution, and manipulated socio-economic and political structure on the one hand and unearths realities about the legal-administrative mechanism provided under the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) on the other. It presents a stunning picture of the region in which human society and its culture, politics and economy, and its law and administration have been insulated and kept distant from the effects of modernization.
