Professor Haruna Wakili (1960–2020) was a prominent Nigerian academic, historian, and public servant whose enduring educational and governance contributions significantly impacted Bayero University, Kano (BUK), and Jigawa State. Born in June 1960 in Rumfa ward, Hadejia, Jigawa State, Prof. Wakili began his educational journey at Government Teachers College, Dutse, where he obtained his Grade II Certificate in 1980. He then attended Bayero University, Kano, completing his B.A. in History in 1985.
