Sarogoonam 'Saro' Naicker (nee Naidoo) was born in 1928 in Durban. She married journalist, trade unionist and SACP member Marimuthu Pragalathan 'MP' Naicker in 1943. They were both imprisoned for their political activities and MP Naicker was one of the defendants in the 1956 Treason Trial. The couple went into exile in the UK in 1967, where MP Naicker was Director of Publicity for the ANC External Mission in London.
