Juliet Prowse (1936-1996) was born in India to an English father and South African mother and grew up outside Johannesburg. She studied ballet from the age of four. In her early twenties, while dancing in Paris, she was spotted by a talent agent and signed to play the role of Claudine in the film Can-Can with Frank Sinatra. She also danced in Elvis Presley's film, G.I. Blues, appeared in other feature films and TV shows, and headlined successful Las Vegas shows, winning Entertainer of the Year for the Vegas run of Sweet Charity.
