Novel set in Cape Town in 1996 during South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings. An Afrikaner doctor, Pieter Marais, and a Xhosa police detective, Thembisa Dlamini, both of whom have lost loved ones, seek the truth about a deadly crime committed during the apartheid years.
