Carrying capacity is the study of determining the maximum population that can be effectively supported by natural and environmental resources. This study has evolved over the years to determine the upper limit of a population that can be effectively supported by natural and environmental resources. Carrying capacity is defined by the World Tourism Organization as the most significant number of visitors that any given area can accommodate without placing an outward burden on the area's natural resources. In addition to natural resources, there are also other resource factors to be taken into account when determining carrying capacity. These include economic, ecological, and social resources.
