Randhi: Of Power and Desire is the story of a Madiga (a scheduled caste) girl in the village of Vejendla in Telugu land. Suvvi was born in the dawn of the Indian Constitution to illiterate parents living on daily wages. Inspired by the winds of hope of the newly formed Republic of India, Suvvi aspired to get educated and become a teacher. Ramudu, son of the richest, most powerful and cruel landlord of Vejendla, was deeply bitten by Suvi’s beauty. When Ramudu, wearing his power, superior caste and stinking wealth, crudely tried to make advances to Suvvi, she haughtily scorned him.
