Covid-19 has unimaginably disrupted the lives and livelihoods in the Society. Industry and commerce incurred huge losses. Millions of formal and informal workers suffered multiple deprivations in the labour market. Unemployment soared high and employment rates declined considerably during the peak of the Covid-19 period. Ironically, this period also witnessed substantial changes in the labour laws at regional levels and the passage of three Labour Codes at the national level. Thus, the world of work in India has experienced the severest crisis. The essays in this book critically examine the government's important policies and labour regulations during this period.
