This is a global story, certainly, but it is also a story of a great forgotten: the role of the Philippines and its peoples in the making of US global power-the role of the colonial decimation of the Philippines and its human and nonhuman inhabitants at the hands of US power since the late nineteenth century until this very day; the legacies of that relation for empire as a way of life, a mode of global capitalist dominance; the role of and cost to Filipinos of imperial wars in other regions such as West Asia; the role of our own disposability in upholding an American way of life spread everywhere-but also the role of our survival and life-making in the expansion of this mode of life in the age of platform capitalism.
