Between 1914 and 1922 was a radical break and transformation period for Istanbul. This book is a compilation of statements presented at the international conference entitled "Istanbul 1914-1922: The Date, Collapse, Occupation and Resistance" in Istanbul on November 2022. Covering World War I, Mudros Fire and Allied occupation period, the book simultaneously examines a city acting as a scene of political polarity, a shelter for white Russian immigrants, and the organization center of the "national struggle" movement. Combining perspectives from history, sociology, economic history, and culture and utilising diverse state archives and personal narratives this publication addresses various topics such as immigration, diplomacy, literature and theatre, as well as the continuity of resistance and survival strategies from various Istanbul's communities during this tense period.
