The present work addresses the issue of governance and sustainability by anchoring them to ethics as self-governance. Its discussion is arranged in five chapters, beginning with tadbir as a pivotal term which projects the Islamic concept of governance, before proceeding to reintroduce the circular order of governance (dairat al-siyasah) vis-a-vis the pyramidal structure of governance. The order secures a special position for the natural world and with that, the discussion continues to deal with such critical issues related to sustainability as climate change, environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. In so doing, it offers some good lessons and insightful solutions.
